A little over a year ago, we announced our membership program and our plan to build a marketplace.

The Plus membership comes with a Bike Index cycling cap, and the Patron level comes with a sun shirt. Both are now available — we'll be reaching out to members for mailing addresses to ship them.

We're thrilled with the new designs showcased on the cap and shirt, which are helping Bike Index look better across the board. We're incredibly lucky to have found Kelsey Graywill.

Over the past year, the marketplace has grown steadily, with many successful sales and over 450 current listings.

We're deeply grateful to the membership program for making the marketplace possible. Along the way, we learned something important: the marketplace works because a wide variety of people register their bikes and list them — not because a small core of power users lists many bikes. So instead of requiring membership to list a bike (our original plan, based on the success of the Radavist and other bike blogs), we're opening listings to everyone, member or not.

This means some member benefits are changing. Members will now have their listings promoted to the top of the marketplace.

We have exciting plans for the marketplace over the next few months, and we're looking forward to continuing to improve Bike Index for everyone.

Also, if you want a Bike Index sun hoody, they’re available for pre-order. They’re made in Vermont by Thuja from a wool blend. We think they’re pretty cool!
