On Saturday 12 September 2026 at approximately 16:00 I arrived by bicycle at Kingley Vale car park, West Stoke (near East Ashling, Chichester). I locked my bicycle, an Omnium Mini V1 cargo bike, to a metal sign pole in the car park using a Kryptonite Messenger lock, securing the frame to the pole. Nobody else was present in the car park or the surrounding area at the time. I then went for a walk. I returned at approximately 16:45 and the bicycle was gone. The lock was not at the scene; I believe it was still attached to the bike when it was taken. The sign pole was still in place but had no sign on top of it. I cannot say with certainty whether the sign was present when I locked the bike, so it is possible either that the bike was lifted over a pole that was already bare, or that the sign was removed to allow this. I did not see any cut lock, tools, or damage to the pole.
