The bike was stolen between Wednesday, September 2 and Friday, September 4, 2026, from the private bicycle storage area in the garage of an apartment building near the school in Argentière, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. The garage door was broken and stuck open at the time. The bike was locked to itself but not secured to a fixed object. A local resident may have seen it on September 7, attached beside a mountain bike at the end of the lowest wooden bridge near the DZ des Bois (helipad). The mountain bike reportedly had a flat tyre, and a helmet was attached to the other bike. This sighting has not been confirmed. The theft has been reported to the Gendarmerie de Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, and Canyon has flagged the bicycle as stolen in its system.
