Description of incident

I believe that I was being tracked for some time. My bike was stolen by 2 guys who had a general idea of where I lived. The day it was stolen, one of the guys was wearing a full cycling kit and riding a new Trek Domane while the other was following in a truck or van. I was followed home by the guy riding the bike; he seemed like a nice guy and claimed to have recently moved into my neighborhood. We stopped near my house to chat about some supposed shop rides by a local shop. At this point the 2nd guy approaches from out of nowhere, introduces himself as the first guy's brother, claims he has some flyers and swag but left it in his car parked around the corner and asks to take the Trek so he can get there and back quickly. I'm left with the first guy still chatting about bikes at which point he asks if he could get on my bike to feel the carbon wheels -- my mistake was dismounting and agreeing to it. Before I knew it, he was riding away and there was nothing I could do. The duo struck again in less than week in my neighborhood. It appears that they followed another cyclist from a local shop who happened to get a flat on his ride. Same story, same guys introducing themselves using the same names and background. They know about bikes and only going after higher end bikes, second bike stolen was a BMC Roadmachine.
