Thieves picked lock on gate to side patio, cut cable attached to U-lock, and either picked the frame lock built-in on the bike or picked it up and carried it away. The bike is large and heavy, so carrying it wold require two people. This was done late at night, though there is a bright light on the side patio that is activated by a motion-sensor.
