Description of incident
I entered the REI side parking lot and entered the store around 2:35pm. I was in the store for approximately 45 minutes. Upon coming back to the parking lot at roughly 3:20pm, I immediately saw Asset Protection employees standing by my car and my bike missing. My bike was locked onto a Thule bike hitch rack & the lock cable had but cut through & left on the ground beneath the car. The persons at the scene did not see it happen themselves but said that they "had been waiting for police for about half an hour" so it sounds as though the incident occurred shortly after I left my car to go into the store. After speaking with the officer at the scene, he checked and informed me that the security cameras in the parking lot were not set to record but only live feeds. I then spent the next hour and a half walking the Platte Park area to see if there was any trace of the bike. I rode the bike earlier in the day and broken the chain, so the bike is virtually impossible to ride. I was hoping that the thief would quickly realize this if they were fleeing the scene on the bike and then leave it in the immediate area. I was unable to find anything.
