Description of incident
During the night between Friday, March 20 and Saturday, March 21, my garage was
broken into and my electric bicycle was stolen. The burglar approached the garage
from the outside and appears to have used a stick or similar object to physically
push the motion-activated light sensor upward, preventing the exterior light from
triggering. This suggests the perpetrator was familiar with the property or had
surveilled it in advance. The burglar then broke a window on the garage door and
reached through the opening to access the manual release mechanism, unlocking
the garage door from the inside. On the morning of Saturday, March 21, I discovered
the garage door open with broken glass on the ground beneath the garage door
window. My electric bicycle, with mounted child seat, which had been stored inside
the garage, was no longer present.
