The bicycle is a light blue/green Surly CrossCheck with the company decals removed. I added red reflective tape decals in 5 stripes on the top tube, 1 stripe on the downtube, and 5 stripes on each side of the rear triangle, and a custom designed red reflective flower decal on the front (head tube) of the bike. These were just stickers so could easily be removed by the thief. Frame Size: 50cm. The serial # ends in 11040 and says “CROSS”. I have a photo showing this information. I am checking with the manufacturer to see if this is the complete serial number. Other components that were on the bicycle are the following: Stem: Truvativ 11cm Handlebars: RITCHEY WCS drop bars 42cm, Red bar tape Break Levers/shifters: Shimano 105 Flight Deck Triple, Front/9spd rear Front Hub: Ultimate Machine Titanium Hub 32 hole (this is a very small manufacturer and very rare in the Bay Area area). Silver and red anodized. Rear Hub: Shimana Ultegra 9spd (8spd compatible) 32 Hole with Shimano Dura Ace 9Speed Cassette, 12-25 Rims: Mavic A719 Wheel locks: The wheels are locked with Pinhead locks. (I have the key) Tires: narrow with tread (cyclocross tires) Pedals: Gold-toned metal flat pedals Rear Rack: black Topeak rack Water Bottle Holders: Red anodized aluminum Brakes: Red and white rear brake and silver Shimano front brake.

- Description of incident

My bicycle was stolen from the bike racks outside the 19th St BART station at 20th St and Broadway, SW entrance, between 1:45 and 3:15pm. I believe the bicycle was properly locked (U-lock through frame -- I have wheel locks so i didn't lock the wheels). But when I came out the bike was gone, the lock and helmet remained on the bike rack. The lock (Kryptonite Kryptolok Series 2 small ulock) was closed and undamaged with the helmet locked to it. I believe the serial number is correct - but I only have a low-res photo of it from the day I purchased it and it was taken from a bad angle.
