Description of incident

I was grocery shopping for less than half an hour at El Super @ 450 Long Beach Blvd. Downtown LB where we live is sketchy, but as always I had locked the bike with my Kryptonite U-lock to one of two solid bike racks right outside the store. There is a good amount of foot traffic at this popular store, and a large parking lot, but I of course would not want shoppers to confront a bike thief on my behalf, possibly risking their life. The security guard was inside the store, he can call the cops, but he can't do much on his own. NEVER confront a bike thief, it's not worth losing your life over anything. I filed a report online with the LBPD Mon. Sept. 23. They have viewed surveillance footage from the store and have confirmed that the perp can be seen stealing my bike. I was not allowed to view the footage; they are likely worried about victims taking the law into their own hands. Now and then, I will be calling the warehouse where the LBPD stores recovered bikes that are sold at auction after 120 days if they are unable to track down the owners). I bought this bike as brand new in 2007 at The Bike Palace in San Pedro, but I don't have the reciept after all these years. I must have had the serial number written down at some point plus the receipt, I usually always keep important stuff, but I have moved several times since 2007, the info seems to be lost. I called the store, they don't have records going back that far in their system. NOTE!!!! The colored area of the map is incorrect, it shows a different part of Long Beach, the correct map will appear in 14 days.
