- Description of incident
-
I was visiting the Hirschhorn Museum and locked my bike to the exterior of the building's official bicycle rack. I used a cable lock that has a 4 digit combination. There were two other bikes locked beside it. I continued to visit the museum, and realized upon exiting at approximately 3:30pm that my bicycle was missing from the rack. The rack was completely empty of the surrounding bikes as well. At 3:36 I contacted my daughter and then ran into a security guard, to whom I reported the incident in full. During our conversation a second security officer or police officer approached us and offered to write an incident report but implied that recovery is unlikely. I decided to file the incident report online at a later time. I did not see the theft occur, it appears that the thief waited until I was inside the museum.
