Description of incident
I live in Northeast Minneapolis in a small group of apartments above a business. The gate to enter the stairs to enter my apartment is locked via code, but exists in a large parking lot near a few local businesses. My bike was locked with a U-Lock to the bottom of the metal stairway, visible through the gate. Someone, midday, broke in, cut the U-Lock, and stole the bike. It was stolen between 11:30 AM - 6:30PM on 8/11/22. I went to get coffee at 11:15 AM, and returned at 11:30 AM, I remember my bike being locked to the stairwell when I returned. Left apartment at 6:30 and found the broken U-Lock. I have security footage from 8/9/22 where a bearded white male attempts to break in and fails, twice within 1 hour. This man resembles a man who stole my friend's bike on 7/6/22. My friend lives 5-6 blocks away in a luxury apartment complex - his bike was U-locked to a pole in a private, locked garage. Let me know if you happen across it. I have the security footage and images of the thief, but won't share them here, already sent to the police.
