Description of incident
My bicycle was stolen from the bike storage room in my apartment building. The bike was locked to a bike rack with a heavy duty U-lock as well as a chain link lock. The chain link had been cut through and was left on the ground under the bike rack. The U-lock was no longer present. Numerous bikes seem to have been stolen from the room as it was much emptier than usual, and at least one other broken lock (not belonging to me) was on the ground under the bike rack. The last time I rode my bike was July 10th and I locked it in place with both locks after the ride. I wanted to go for an evening ride on 7/19 and that is when I found that the bike had been stolen. The bike storage room in my apartment building is locked and requires a special key that must be administered by the leasing office(i.e. it is separate from the FOB keys that open other public areas in the building and is a traditional lock-and-key).Therefore a resident may have been the culprit or accomplice in the crime. There is a security camera in the bike storage room and the leasing office employees informed me that they will check the cameras, but that the footage only goes back a certain period of time and so there is a chance that the footage has been deleted.
