Description of incident
My bike was stolen from our garage on Art Street some time last night or this morning. It's a Fuji Mountain/street hybrid, serial number wbd084103630, black with blue trim. Has a headlight on the handlebars and a red light on the back of the seat post, in addition to reflectors in both places, white in front, red in back, and a bottle holder attached to the lower frame. (The lights and bottle holder aren't included in this photo.) I discovered it missing this morning around 6am and decided to go out and search for it. I found it at the homeless encampment on the sidewalk at the Arco station on 63rd and El Cajon Blvd. Several people were standing around but a man and woman were closest to my bike. I got out of my car and said, "That's my bike," and started to take it. The woman became belligerent, put her hand on the handlebars and pulled back. She said "How we know it's your bike?" I was outnumbered and backed off a little and said I would get the serial number from inside my car. I stepped back, she mumbled something to the guy, he jumped on the bike and crossed El Cajon Blvd. I drove after him for a few minutes but eventually I lost him. I drove to all the usual locations where I'd seen people disassembling bikes but couldn't find the guy or the bike. Eventually I flagged a police officer down and gave a complete report. Description of the guy who rode off on the bike: black pants and black hoodie in his thirties close-cropped hair that may have a bit of natural redness to it (not dyed) maybe 5' 10" African American Description of the woman who argued with me: Black/dark clothing in her thirties 5' 8" African American Please message me with any information or advice. I am in email touch with the police officer patrolling the neighborhood and I will pass on any useful information.
