I biked to union station to catch an amtrak train and at 9am Sunday 6/26/22 locked my bike up with a heavy duty chain lock (rated 9/10 in security by REI) through the bike frame and back wheel onto a bike u rack on the west side outside of the station, near the entrance to the metro, and near the bikestation. I returned Monday 6/27/22 night at 11pm to find my bike and lock completely missing from the rack I had locked it to. Here's a picture of the bike where I locked it on sunday morning with the heavy chain lock: https://annlewis.s3.amazonaws.com/D55FA23E-227D-4634-8D28-D2AF6F208E8F.jpeg Here's a picture of the empty bike rack when I returned: https://annlewis.s3.amazonaws.com/EF6E06FB-D7C3-4CC0-AC24-5CA8FA742ADD.jpeg On further inspection of these bike u racks, it appears they are bolted into the concrete, with accessible bolts. I think it's possible a thief could have unbolted the entire u rack to get the bike. Given the security of the heavy chain bike lock, it's possible the bike still has the back wheel locked to the frame.
