Had the bike "Sheldon locked", with the rear wheel locked through the rear triangle to the sidewalk staple. The thief hacked through the rear wheel to get it, leaving the lock and the staple unharmed. I never recorded the serial, and I know it's long gone, but this site seems like a nice glimmer of hope.
