Description of incident
Please note: This bike was purchased from the downtown Portland REI in November of 2021, so there are no photos of the bike with me or in my possession. I haven't ridden it from roughly a month. This morning, I came out of my apartment to run an errand and immediately saw that my locked bike had been stolen. We heard no noise in the night or early in the morning. My bike was chained to the railing of the third floor landing / another bike (the other bike remained untouched). It was locked using a Kryptonite U-lock and chain combo – I recall either threading the U-lock through my tire and frame, or around the frame of the other bike and my tire. The chain lock was cut, and half of the chain was left behind. No other evidence remains other than an old zip tie. I had a bike stolen from this exact spot in July of 2021. The stairs are covered from the outside, but there is no door to enter the stairwell. The other bike that was stolen had only a chain lock and no evidence was left behind. A police report has been filed, and a temporary tracking number (T21035100) has been issued while the case is pending approval.
