Description of incident

Bike stolen over July 4 holiday, while owner was away from dorm. Custom heavy bike chain, welded link, found with cut lock. Campus police referred me to Raleigh Police Dept., who said they didn't issue reports on stolen bikes, due to such a large number stolen. However, it was reported to family's homeowner insurance carrier, but bike value was less than insurance deductible amount, so no recovery of value was available.
