Clearly a well-used bike. Plenty of scratches and issues.
2005 Trek 4500 - single speed, rigid fork hardtail
Size: 21" frame
Serial: TBI-0406C94DS727
Type: This is a single speed, rigid suspension 26" mountain bike.
Appearance: See picture - that's what it looked like before the singlespeed conversion. Black and blue with red/white accents. The bike has 'Bike Shepherd' bar code stickers on it, but they are worn and don't scan anymore.
This bike has been extensively modified and converted to a singlespeed with a rigid front fork. Frame is very worn out. Everything is very worn out. I like it that way.
Stock stem in 'slammed' postion (flipped for negative rise to lower the handlebars)
Stock handlebars (Bontrager Crowbar)
Stock Tektro levers. The barrel adjusters don't work.
Shimano LX hollowtech2 crankset with a single chain ring in front - 44t
Shimano Hollowtech 2 Bottom Bracket. Needs to be replaced (why am I telling you this?!)
Anodized red spacer kit on the rear wheel with a 21t (I think) cog on the rear
Surly Singleator Singlespeed conversion kit on the back in "push-up" configuration
KMC Stainless Singlespeed chain. It won't rust, but you still have to lube it. (What a strange ad.)
The bike has mounts for V-brakes, but was converted to disc brakes. Avid BB7s front and rear. G2 on the rear, G3 on the front if memory serves. The brakes don't work very well and badly need new cables and pads. The front brake locks if you're not careful.
FSA "The Pig" Headset
Time ATAC-Z clipless MTB pedals (worn bearings...) You're not seriously going to start riding Time, are you?
Surly 1x1 steel fork. Singletrack is BRUTAL on it.
Bontrager Seatpost (31.6mm) and Bontrager Race saddle with a few rips. The seatpost is seized in the frame, and it's got a very aggressive geometry. Don't hurt your back.
Bontrager seatpost clamp which is useless thanks to the aforementioned seized seatpost.
Lizard Skins 'Peaty' grips - anodized red lock rings, black grips. 'King Street Cycles' logo on them.
Mavic XM117 disc-only rims with 2.25" Schwalbe Racing Ralph mtb tires - red stripes on the sides. Presta valves, don't forget.
Doesn't have bottle cages. Fun fact: the rivets on the seat tube are stripped - not even possible to mount a cage there any more. Downtube didn't have a cage mounted at the time.
It's been a labour of love, and I know it inside and out. I think you'll have a hard time selling it.
At least take care of the damn thing. Or maybe you'll be interested in buying the 6 sets of tires and spare wheelset I have for it...
Get in touch via email. Cheers
Notes about photo:
1. The bike is outfitted with different wheels and tires now: Mavic XM117 disc with Schwalbe Racing Ralph tires - red stripes on the sides.
2. There are no gears to be shifted anymore. No shifters or derailleurs. It's a singlespeed bike with a simple chain tensioner that looks like the one in the second attachment (not an actual picture of mine)
3. No bottle cages
4. The bike does not have those bar ends at the end of the handle-bars anymore. Let's be honest. Bar-ends are pretty 90s.
