Stolen around 4pm in the afternoon in the parking lot of a Walmart Super store #2113. Many patrons could see and notice bike in plain view and it would have been visible on the numerous camera located at the top of the Walmart facility. The lock requires a key to unlock it, which was left intact but the wire rope which ran through the frame and both wheels was cut in half and left at the scene. I locked the bike and was in the store for about an hour only to return and find the bike missing. The police stated that numerous bikes had been stolen at this location. If only i had that info i would not have travel to that location to make purchases and leave my bike locked and unattended. Arizona does not issue public alerts on the daily news reports on the different TV channels about high crime areas or thief alerts. With the many bike written and bought in the AZ areas bikers news doesn't seem to be all that important. Phoenix Police Officer 9495 took report #2015-1025786. Called Walmart 060115 and talked with Mgr Lisa at 602-246-1700 who stated that officer was given 2 tapes of before and after recording during the 4-6PM time frame 053015. She stated that Walmart could not take responsibility of any thief in the parking lot since it is not property owned by Walmart. Walmart rents space in the mall from another entity not mentioned to me. Sent bike info to Phoenix PD to be forwarded to the investigating officer in June, approximately 6/2/15 with picture, reg info and a disk of bike profile. 6/20-7/2/15 called various numbers to get details about the progress of the investigation. Was forwarded by the Civil Servants to different locations and personnel who had no knowledge of the report taken. Was finally directed to a detective who was not available, but let a message. Finally on 7/5/15 i reached a female Detective who stated that she had a case load of 500 or more bicycle stolen reports and more was being received each day. She works in a sub station in the North Mountain area. She stated that she was unaware of my bike being stolen since the info had not been entered in the computer at the PD Headquarters office and forwarded to her. There seem to be with this PD that your personal property when stolen is just another incident in the live of criminals who will enjoy your expensive or not so expensive property with out prosecution of any kind. I really don't expect to see my property returned as i can't expect any help from the Phoenix PD with their 500+ that doesn't seem to be a problem in this state. 1 BIKE STOLEN IS TOO MANY! The officer who took the report may not have turned in the 2 security tapes given to him by Walmart manager. Because the Detective knew nothing about it when mentioned. I recently visited the mall area where the bike was stolen and i noticed that the security was stepped and visual where it wasn't before. And also Walmart has stepped up and revised their store security to prevent future problems 7/6/15. Awaiting response from the PHOENIX PD of which i don't expect will happen no time soon, if ever.
