STOLEN BIKES!! HELP???? My and Kat's bikes were stolen last night in Uptown/Buena Park. We live next door to the GNS that's tagged in this post.
They were taken right out of our locked basement where you need a key to get past at least two locked doors. Unfortunately, I don't have images handy of Katherine's bike to post right now.
Anyways, it's a LOOOOOONG shot, but here are two images of my bike and an image of what the rack attachment on the seat post looks like as it was stolen.
It's set-up as a fixed gear, has a ton of stickers on it, and has the left brake lever on the left bullhorn and one brake lever on the crossbar on the right. My helmet was hanging off it, too, and they fucking yoinked that, too.
Anyways, if anyone sees anything on Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace, or sees someone riding around on my (likely) former badass whip, let me know. It's hard to miss.
Kat's bike was an old blue Peugeot (multi-speed) road bike straight from the 70's. Fuckers took her helmet, too.
I filed a (likely) useless police report and will be checking pawn and bike shops.
My takeaway from this is that I'm angry and sad all at once. It's just a "thing" but a useful thing that I used to get to/from work, used for exercise, used for errands, used to decrease my carbon footprint. The person/people who took these bikes obviously needed them more than me and if I never see my bike again, I hope its new owner treats her well... if the new owner having known that it was stolen or the person who stole it is a dick to my bike, I hope they get hit by a car.
