I was asked by the De Young Museum security to lock my bike next to the building and about 30 ft from where the security man was standing. When I got back after couple of hours ( 11am-1pm) there was no sign of it. The security didn't seem surprised to hear that - apparently that has been a common issue. Sadly I found that out too late.
