Distinguishing features
Surly Cross-Check, Surly 4130 CroMoly steel. Main triangle double-butted. TIG-welded Two VERY UNIQUE characteristics: 1) STAINLESS STEEL COUPLERS on the top tube and the down tube. These are visible in the red boxes in the attached photo. Additionally 2) NO LABELS OR LOGOS of any kind since these were removed when the bike was re-powder coated after the couplers were installed. Though the frame of this bike is a Cross Check, a number of modifications were made to it: - Stock handlebars (which flair out) were replaced with non-flair handlebars (on the narrow side) - A third chainring ("granny gear") was added to the front sprocket - A shorter stem was installed - Continental Ultra Gatorskin Tires - A skewer lock was installed on the front wheel - WTB Speed She saddle/seat (not the one that came with bike) - Black rear rack w/ handmade lock "holster" made out of forest green straps and orange thread - Water bottle cage on down tube - Shimano A530 SPD Sport Road Pedals (flat on one side and clip-in on the other) When stolen bike also had: - A stainless steal Klean Kantee sport water bottle in water bottle cage - Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboutit Mini Bicycle U-Lock (3.25 x 6-Inch) - Planet Bike Superflash Turb rear light (white with red circle in middle) - Nite Rider Lumina front light - Front bell - Black under seat pouch with turquoise strap hand-sewn onto it with orange thread; included spare tube + tire irons etc. - Hand pump attached to the frame under the water bottle catch

Description of incident
Bike was stolen off of the rack on the front of a Muni bus on the 49 line while the bus was pulled over at a bus stop. Bus was traveling South on Van Ness and was pulled over at the Post Street stop. Theft took place at ~9:40 pm on 9/11/2014. Thief removed bike from rack and then got on it and rode south down Van Ness. I got off the bus immediately and screamed at the thief to get off the bike, but he got away. Thief looked to be male and wearing dark clothes. Medium height.
