The bike was locked with a folding metal lock attached to the (fabric installed) rear bike rack in a busy pedestrian path between University buildings. The thieve(s) took the time to unscrew the bike rack, switch the cables that connected to the rear light in the rack and took the bike, leaving the bike rack. The bike didn't have the battery on it.
