At 5:50 AM, it was discovered that the electric bikes of myself and my partner had been stolen out of the on-site bicycle storage room of our apartment complex located on the west side of First Hill in Seattle, WA. The bikes are presumed to have been taken during an elevator outage that severely limited movement of residents in one of the property's two towers. Service personnel were on the premises all day Sunday working on the elevator issue, and in the process may have left doors that are normally secure wide open. The bikes were locked in the bike storage room, which requires a resident key fob to be tapped for access. Additionally, the bikes were each locked to racks with combination cable locks. The theft may have been premeditated due to the security measures that were bypassed, and the thieves' ability to remove the locks. More than likely, cable cutters or similar industrial tools were used to break the locks. Police report was filed and the leasing office was notified. An investigation is ongoing with property management to review camera footage to pinpoint the time the bikes were stolen.
