Description of incident
I was away for the second half of the day on Sunday 4/23. On Monday morning around 9:30am I looked out my back window and saw the the door to my storage building was wide open. I investigated and found that my wife's Kalfkoff e-bike was gone. Other items may have been stolen as well, but I can not be sure as there were many items stored in the building. The deadbolt on the door was not damaged. There was a partially used package of Webber lighter cubes and a spray bottle of Scotchgard left behind by the burglar(s) near the open door, I presume these items may have been used to soften the brass of the "bump key" they probably used to pick the deadbolt lock. The bike is a 2018 Kalkhoff Agattu B7 valued at ~$2,500. It is mat black with a smaller 18" step-through frame size and smaller 26" wheels. It is unique in its design in that the battery mounts directly above the rear wheel within the rear rack. It has a branded Bosch mid-drive motor (near the peddles). The bike is a Dutch import and is not sold in the US. The battery and charger for the bike were in my house and not stollen. I don't believe the thieves will easily be able to find a battery to make this bike useable since it is a foreign import. The saddle (seat) is made of brown leather with decorative floral designs tooled into the leather and has visible springs underneath, it was made in England by Brooks (see photos)
