Distinguishing features
This bike is mainly ridden on the UMD campus in College Park as a campus beater. All original except wear items, unassuming, not flashy; I left it unlocked on campus for 3 days once, and nobody even looked at it. Distinguishing features are a thick layer of brake dust on the forks/seatstays, red reflective tape on the seat tube, red Koolstop classic brake pads, and a Superman saddle off of a kids bike (bike of steel for a man of steel!). The gold bottle cage in the pictures is now on my BMC race bike. The Schwinn now has the baby blue Bontrager bottle cage taken off my Giant TCR. Both wheels are the original handmade Weinmann alloy wheels from 1987, and I just rebuilt the rear wheel with 2 new spokes and serviced hub as of December 2016. It's the ideal no-f***s-given commuter bike, kickstand and everything. I trained on this bike for race season the last two years, and it took all the abuse and more (although it flexes like a noodle when I'm out of the saddle, and it weighs 35 pounds). NOT to be confused with the much more common World Sport, this particular bike is not common. I have only seen two other Schwinn Worlds in my life; one was light blue (the only other color they came in) converted into a flat bar fixie, and the other was identical to mine for sale in VA for $250. Mine will be around for decades to come.
