My wife and I were storing our bicycles in the secure (or so we thought) garage of our apartment building. A couple of kids got into the garage and stole a number of bikes by cutting off the cable locks. We were going to buy a U-lock when we had free time, but didn't prioritize it because we thought that our garage would be safe.
